The National Weather Service advises that Jackson can expect more severe weather today, with strong thunderstorms moving into the area from the West. The Capital City is under a Tornado watch until 5 p.m. tonight.
"Conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form," reports Weather.com. "Stay alert, and be prepared to seek shelter in the event that a warning is issued."
The NWS also has issued a flood warning for the Pearl River at Jackson.

Jackson Public Schools has announed that all after-school programs and sports activities for today are cancelled due to the weather threat.
