Survey Puts Crisler, Harvey Johnson in the Lead

Jackson City Councilman Marshand Crisler leads other Democratic mayoral candidates in a fourth survey taken last Friday.

Washington, D.C. based Democratic political consultants Zata|3 have completed a fourth survey on the Democratic slate of mayoral candidates in Jackson. Brad Chism, president of the company, said in an e-mail that 515 voters responded to a survey conducted last Friday, April 17, providing a 5 percent margin of error.

Jackson City Councilman Marshand Crisler leads in the latest survey, garnering support from 28 percent of respondents. Former Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr. came in second with 21 percent and incumbent Mayor Frank Melton was third with 19 percent. Previous polls either had Melton leading or tied with Crisler and Johnson, so this latest poll is a considerable drop for the current mayor.

Sen. John Horhn came in fourth with 10 percent, and Eddie Fair trailed with 4 percent. All other candidates combined made up 8 percent of the respondents support.

Chism indicated that the latest sample was more indicative of the city's racial makeup, with 63 percent black respondents and 31 percent white, with the balance made up of Asian, Latino and self-described "other" races. He also said the poll oversampled women and older voters.

According to Chism's e-mail, Zata|3 "used an interactive, automated call with keypad responses to record results. The numbers are scrambled and randomly dialed with a quota of respondents by ward. As the name suggests, our ZATAPULSE takes the pulse of the electorate. It is not an ‘MRI.' It is a useful tool for short surveys of this nature and we have used it for more than 200 races across the country. We employ a similar methodology as Survey USA or Rasmussen. Still, the tool has limits. We caution you that this race is fluid and that each candidate is likely to have a more robust, internal poll. Nonetheless, we are confident that this is the most accurate, timely information that is publicly available."

The Ibelievebull poll shows that their is a three way tie for the has beens again I will say this poles don't vote! If anyone of the three mention above get elected then Jackson is no better off. The need for new leadership is a must if you want to change the rut Jackson has been in for the past 16 years.

These are soooo....silly, really, I agree that everyone should have the opportunity to run, but to say Harvey Johnson wouldn't take us anywhere demonstrates a personal vendetta. HARVEY johnson really is the only person ready and proven ready to take lead of this city. I ask that people make a case where Harvey Johnson isn't ready, but sdont hate for the sake of hating prove something first, it would be more respected
