Rick Whitlow, former sports director and anchor at WJTV, will formerly announce his intention to run for mayor of Jackson tonight.
This will be Whitlow's second bid for the job: In 2005, he unsuccessfully ran against Frank Melton. Although he ran as a Republican then, Whitlow says he will be running as an Independent this time around.
In January, he released a comprehensive mayoral platform document to the media via e-mail
"This is the platform from which I will work should I decide to run for the Office of Mayor in Jackson," he wrote. "There are still several matters I have to take into consideration before making a final decision on my candidacy. The decision will officially be announced the first week of March just prior to the filing deadline."
Whitlow will make his announcement at 6 p.m. at 623 Court St. in the Capitol Green development district.

Darn, millhouse! I was gonna vote for you. How much does it cost to file papers to go on the ballot? I might as well throw my hat in the ring.

The caption for the picture above should read: Possible Mayoral hopeful Rick Whitlow runs out of fingers counting how many people are running for Mayor of Jackson.
