Mayor-elect Harvey Johnson Jr. says "The First 48" will focus the wrong kind of attention on Jackson, reports WAPT. The show, a reality program focusing on murder investigations, airs on the A&E cable network, and has featured cities such as Miami and Memphis.
Johnson disagrees with the Jackson Police Department and the City Council, both of which are in favor of the show producing segments in the city. The deal isn't signed, yet, and the deal is reportedly on hold. Johnson says the show may be one of the first things to go after he's sworn in.
"There are a number of things we can spotlight rather than homicides," Johnson told WAPT. "Although we have a high rate, this type of program is going to go out nationally."

He's right. After Melton, Jackson does not need any additional negative attention.
