Clevenger, a Hinds Community College Chemistry and Physics Instructor and Raymond Elementary School parent, is a former high school science teacher who has taught at Hinds Community College for thirteen years, according to a release.

For two years she has organized a nationally recognized school-wide program for National Chemistry Week where all students perform hands-on science experiments under the direction of faculty and students from Hinds Community College. She also leads field trips to the college's science labs so that students can actually visualize themselves both attending college and studying science. For many children, these two concepts are almost unimaginable at this young age. The school district appreciates the ongoing partnership that she facilitates with Hinds Community College which will continue to provide rich experiences for our students, teachers and families for many years to come.

Dr. Stephen Handley, Superintendent, commented on her involvement, "It is precisely this type of creative interaction with adults outside of our schools that our students need in order to expand their perspective and to challenge them to achieve at the highest possible academic levels. Ms. Clevenger represents the best our parents have to offer and is a tremendous advocate for students and education because of her consistent belief and practice that the success of our families, communities and schools are all inextricably bound together."

Ms. Clevenger is a mother of three children and is married to Sergeant First Class Bryan Clevenger who works full-time with the Mississippi Army National Guard. Their family lives in Raymond.
