Show your support for arts in the schools by planning a visit to Casey Elementary School (2101 Lake Circle) for their annual Arts Festival, tomorrow, March 26.
This free event will highlight student artwork, including a special exhibit for the 3rd Grade JumpstART Project about the history of downtown Jackson. Students have been working with local artists George Miles and Shambe Jones on the project, a portable mural.
Blues musician Jesse Robinson will be the Special Guest at this year's festival. At 9:30 he will share a little music with students and speak about the history and future of Farish Street.
The complete schedule follows:
9:30 a.m. Special guest Jesse Robinson will speak and perform for students.
10 a.m. Third graders will present their original plays about Jackson.
10:30 a.m. Fourth and fifth grade Strings students will perform.
11 a.m. Blood Drive begins.
5 p.m. Open House for Third Grade Parents.
6 p.m. PTA Meeting, featuring third graders performing their original plays and the official presentation of their JumpstART portable mural.
