U.S. Supreme Court Rejects Plea in Seale Case

James Ford Seale during his trial in 2007.

In a statement today, the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected a plea from the 5th U.S. Court of Appeals to decide whether the statute of limitations had run out in the case of reputed Klansman James Ford Seale, convicted in 2007 of federal kidnapping charges for his involvement in the murders of Charles Moore and Henry Dee in 1964.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the conviction in September of 2008, saying the statute of limitations had run out, but the En Banc Court later split on the question, upholding the original opinion.

I'm glad he can stay in jail. I can almost understand why Scalia and Stevens wanted to hear it, but I'm glad it can wait until the outcome won't potentially free a Klansman.

It's time for Seale to pay up. When you dance to the music without repenting, atoning, or coming clean when you have a chance to, your debt has to be paid in full some day. Seale's cell mate or boyfriend awaits him at his new home. He'll be a putting out girlfriend real soon if the wishes of some people are realized. While I feel sorry that he will meet such an undesired fate, he should have thought of that before he joined up with Senator Eastland's and Bilbo's lynch mob or torture crew. He knew darn well it was wrong, no matter the players involved, and I hasten to say, he looks like he's ready to start a new relationship. May he enjoy his new home and live a long time. He had great lawyers who did all they could. I applaud their talents and efforts. I'm happy with the outcome!
