Kick off the first weekend in autumn tonight with a couple of movies for only $5. At 6:30 p.m., Crossroads Film Society presents "My Time Will Come," from Ecuador, and "The Photograph," from Indonesia at the Mississippi Museum of Art (museum members get in for $3). For opera lovers, head to Millsaps College for a rare, free treat. Robert Crowe, a male soprano, will sing Mozart and Haydn arias beginning at 7 p.m. at the Ford Academic Complex. If you're looking for a way to contribute to the community, at 8:30 p.m., head to Galloway United Methodist Church for "Ending Homelessness: Putting the Pieces Together in Our Community," the final event in the Mississippi State Hospital's Homeless Connect Week. This Saturday is definitely a time to roll out early. With fun for the entire family, the 25th annual Wellsfestbilled as Jackson's original music festivalbegins at 10 a.m. at Jamie Fowler Boyle Park next to Smith-Wills Stadium. The fun includes all kinds of musicincluding blues, reggae, country and alt rockcrafts, a pet parade, a 5K run and a whole lot more. Saturday is also national Museum Day, which means the Mississippi Museum of Art waives admission for today only. Don't forget Jackson's great lineup of farmer's markets, including the Mississippi Farmers Market at 8 a.m., the Greater Belhaven Market at 9 a.m. and the Congress Street Market at 10 a.m. where you can stock up on fresh produce and handmade goodies for the whole week. Saturday night, head to One to One Studies for "Mobiles," featuring a unique collaboration of music, dance and photography starting at 7:30 p.m. Then, put your dancing shoes on and head to one of Jackson area's many nightclubs. The lineups include Common Ground Blues Band or Scott Albert Johnson and others at Hal & Mal's, Jackie Bell at 930 Blues Cafe, the Vernon Brothers at Underground 119, and DJs at Cultural Expressions, 88 Keys, and Electric Cowboy. In between brunch and wine tasting, head to New Stage Theatre for the final performance of "Gutenburg! The Musical!" at 2 p.m. This smart, silly, irreverent spoof of Broadway musicals, history, religion and more will have you laughing out loud.
