Michael V. Hutchinson will soon take on an important fundraising role at Millsaps College.
After a nationwide search, Millsaps appointed Hutchinson the school's vice president of institutional advancement. Beginning in October, he will serve in a senior leadership position on Millsaps' executive staff and oversee all of the programs in the office of institutional advancement.
Hutchinson has worked in a similar role--as associate vice president for development--at Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., for the last five years. There, Hendrix helped lead the school's annual, major and planned-gifts programs, as well as leading the corporate- and foundation-relations programs. Through his work, Hutchinson helped complete the school's $100 million campaign.
Prior to his work at Hendrix, Hutchinson helped complete a $120 million campaign at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
Hutchinson holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from McMurry College and a master's of education and educational administration from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is a member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education and the 2013 program chair.
He and his wife, Monica, have twin daughters, Hannah and Maggie.
