Former Madison Central QB Indicted for Selling Drugs
WAPT is reporting that Jared Foster has been indicted in Madison County Circuit Court for selling steroids and released on a $5,000 bond. He pled not guilty and waived arraignment.
"Dog" Chapman does the talk-show Circuit: Your thoughts on the "controversy"
Duane "Dog" Chapman has been making the rounds lately on news talk shows trying to salvage his show or his dignity(take your pick) after his son released an audio recording of him spewing racial epiteths about his son's African amercian girlfriend. Is he truly sorry? Or just sorry he got caught and had his cash cow yanked from under him? I saw him on both Larry King and Hannity and Colmes where he fought back the waterworks...He seemed contrite enough. Sounded more convincing than Michael Richards lol. What are your thoughts?

Mayor Frank Melton's State of the City address at the Alamo Theatre on Farish Street on Aug. 11, 2006, opened with great pomp as a Jackson Police Department color guard marched into the hall. The stage was set with plush leather chairs, and the audience stood as Dathan Thigpen sang the National Anthem while the color guard stood at attention.
Girls Shackled, Abused at Columbia
June 5, 2007 This story appears in this week's print edition of the Jackson Free Press. Eight adolescent girls were shackled, some of them for more than a week, at Columbia Training School because another student said they planned to escape. The girls suffered bruises from tripping in the shackles, along with blisters and cuts to their feet and ankles.

BREAKING: Mayor Agrees to Confirmation Hearings
After many months of stalling, Mayor Frank Melton has finally agreed to put department heads and other appointments in front of the City Council for confirmation. Councilman Ben Allen told the Jackson Free Press today that Melton sent him an e-mail requesting that Allen move ahead with setting up confirmation hearings for the following positions: Rick Hill of the Department of Finance; Fire Chief Todd Chandler; Charles Melvin of Parks and Recreation; Jackson Redevelopment Authority board member Ted Duckworth; Jackson Public Schools Board member Ivory Phillips; Municipal Court Judge Ali ShamsidDeen, and Planning and Development consultant Leland Speed.

Music Street: Where Is the Studio Melton Promised?
During Frank Melton's mayoral campaign, he told an audience of young African American musicians at The Birdland that he would bring a world-class recording studio to them, to Farish Street, once he was elected mayor in June. "I'm entering the fall of my life," Melton said. "The only thing I have left now in my life is to make sure you all have the same opportunities I had. I want a studio on Farish Street." Melton promised that the studio would be one of his first priorities when he took office July 4.
