When the weatherman started talking about snow in Jackson, my wife got busy gathering up blankets and throws. Nine-year-old Zak sat by the window keeping a keen eye on the night sky, straining not to blink and miss catching a glimpse of the first flakes, back-lit by the streetlight. Our teenage boys furiously worked the keyboards on their iPhones making plans with girls to drink coco and flirt (as if they need an excuse like snow for flirting).
Where I Want To Be
There wasn't much run-around, as there can be with some celebrity personalities. Setting up the time to interview Mississippi's son David Banner was a fairly easy process. Truthfully, it wasn't frustrating at all. Willie Nash, Banner's assistant, apologized that even though Banner was in Jackson, he'd just gotten in and regretfully wouldn't be able to meet the day we planned face-to-face, and we set up a time for the phone interview. And at 3 p.m., on the dot, David Banner was on the phone ready to answer any question I had.

6 p.m., Jackson Touchdown Club Meeting at River Hills Country Club (3600 Ridgewood Road). Members of the athletic organization meet weekly during the football season and have access to meals, fellowship and the chance to listen to speakers from around the country. Project Homeless Connect Week Sept. 20-24. The week of events is designed to educate, empower and connect those affected by homelessness in the metro area. Events include the photography exhibit "That's Not All There Is: Snapshots and Stories of the Homeless" at Eudora Welty Library (300 N. State St.), the One Stop Service Fair on Sept. 21 at Smith Park (302 E. Amite St.) from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. which provides resources for the homeless, The Mixin' It Up concert Sept. 23 featuring homeless and former homeless musicians at Smith Park from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and the Conference on Homelessness Sept. 24 at Galloway United Methodist Church (305 N.
