Red Steel Screenshots!
Alright, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this, but I'm going to anyway. Nintendo's newest system is the Revolution, and they've been keeping it under wraps heavier than Area 51. But I have two scans of in-game graphics from the next-gen's first game: The FPS Red Steel. These pictures are exclusive, unless you find the site I jacked them from, or the site that site jacked them from, or if you read Game Informer.
Going nuts in Oxford, Part 2
Doctor S could take the easy way out and say that Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt was being refreshingly honest when he made his Oxford address on Monday. His boss, Pete Boone like it, for whatever it's worth.

David, we love you, but you are wrong about this one. Even if you're music is a representation of society, it sure would be nice for a strong man from around these parts to say that how we treat our women is NOT cool.
Make Lemonade
How many people knew that tomorrow is Lemonade Day in Jackson? Children around the capital city will have lemonade stands set up as a way to learn about business and entrepreneurship. (Temperatures are expected to hit 90 degrees tomorrow, so hopefully the demand for lemonade will be high.)
Get Roy Adkins Out of Jail
I went to see him, and he's holding up pretty well. He slipped me a note through the bars that he wanted me to share with the rest of you. Here it is, verbatim:
Is Barbour Fibbing in his TV Ads?
John Arthur Eaves, and Cotton Mouth, seem to think so. Check out their analysis.
Dead Man Rolling
A dear friend of your departs this life peacefully, and how do you honor his memory? By rolling his corpse on an office chair to a check cashing place in order to cash his Social Security check? I wouldn't, but unfortunately, someone did.

Blues and Burks
Michael Burks grew up learning how to play music. His father taught him his first notes on the guitar at the age of 2, and at 5 years old, he could learn an entire song in one day, by the time his father returned home from work.
Weekend Events: Outdoors, Music & More
Planning your weekend? It should be great weather for the day-time events listed on our Best Bets page including the Jackson Zoo's Party for the Planet on Saturday, and Rainbow Co-op's annual meeting and picnic at the Cedars on Sunday.
[Sue Doh Nem] Long Road to the Promised Land
Brotha Hustle: Dr. King warned us about the difficult days ahead. I wonder what he saw when he looked over that mountaintop into the Promised Land.

"Soul Food Forums" at Wednesday Lunch at Peaches continues this week with Ward 2 City Council Candidate, Chokwe Lumumba. This will be an excellent opportunity to come vet your council candidates(which in a way are just as important as your mayoral candidates). Even if you DON'T live in Ward 2, all of the councilmen will implement policy for the entire city so you need to know where ALL of them stand.

The influx of immigrants and people moving to the Sun Belt and Western mountain states from other parts of the USA is rearranging the ethnic tapestry of urban centers in an unprecedented way.
YDA National Conference Comes to Jackson - November 17th Through 19th
I'm not planning on going, but if you're aged 18-35, politically engaged, and not a Republican, this is a rare opportunity to meet national Democrats without leaving town. The folks in charge of our local YDA chapter seem to be really good people, and I wish them nothing but the best.

Will single women swing the ‘04 election?
Women eNews is reporting: "Are single women the soccer moms of 2004? That's what some national Democrats are betting on as they gear up for this year's presidential election. Democratic activists are basing their convictions on a study of unmarried women released late December that showed that single women are more progressive than the average voter but are less likely to vote in national elections. Democrats contend that if they could reverse that trend and persuade more single women to go to the polls on Election Day, they could tap into a goldmine of new supporters and tilt what is now regarded as a difficult race for the White House in their favor. 'If unmarried women voted at the same rate as married women, they would have a decisive impact on this election and could be the most important agents of change in modern politics,' said Stan Greenberg, a Democratic pollster who conducted the survey and chair of Washington-based Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research."
Mississippi Dems ‘Ready to Rumble'?
Bill Minor writes: "Barbour, the guy who won the governor's job with supposedly unmatched political smarts, made a colossal blunder by pushing through legislation that left thousands of recipients - many of whom voted for him - panicky over losing their present medicine benefits under Medicare. His administration has failed to convince those cut from the state program that they would keep similar medical benefits under his plan. It switches them in September into the federally run Medicare program. They would otherwise be forced to go there in January 2006 if the Medicare reform law is not revised by Congress.
