Millsaps College Hosts Presidential Hopeful

Green Party Presidential candidate David Cobb will speak at Millsaps College on Monday, Oct. 11 at 2:30 p.m. in Room 215 of the Ford Academic Complex on the College campus. Cobb, a native of Texas, served as the General Counsel for the Green Party of the United States until declaring his candidacy and was the Green Party of Texas (GPTX) candidate for Attorney General in 2002. He graduated from the University of Houston Law School in 1993, and had a successful law practice until early 2000. The event is free and open to the public. Since 1965, African Americans have celebrated June 19 as the emancipation of slaves. Originating in Galveston, Texas, the day is an outpouring of joy in the black community and emphasizes community and celebration of freedom.

Come out to the ballpark and meet Mississippi Outdoors and Mississippi Roads hosts Walt Grayson, Melvin Tingle, Karen Jones, Patrick Smith and John Sullivan, Thursday, June 5 at Smith Wills Stadium on Lakeland Drive in Jackson, home of the new Jackson Senators. Join Mississippi Educational Broadcasting for an evening of baseball, giveaways, games and entertainment. The first 500 fans through the gate get a free Mississippi Outdoors and Mississippi Roads car tag. There will be a special treat at the seventh inning stretch.

The college football season unofficially kicks off on Tuesday, July 18, when the Central Mississippi Ole Miss CLub and the Rebel Club of Jackson host the Rebel Reunion at the Mississippi Trademart (that's the building next to the Mississippi Coliseum). The guests will include football coach Ed Orgeron and his staff. The social hour and children's activities start at 5:30 p.m. The program starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, free for students. Satchmo Summer Fest - New Orleans, Aug. 4-8. Edu-taining weekend honoring New Orleans' native son, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong. The Satchmo-inspired program includes musical informances and discussions, exhibits, a jazz mass, activities for budding young jazz fans, a club crawl, "red beans and ricely yours" foods, and a star-studded line-up.
