Berry Candlelight Vigil

I just received word that there will be an interfaith candlelight vigil at Smith Park on Wednesday, May 21 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday is the day Earl Berry is scheduled to die at the hands of the Mississippi justice system.

Reeves: No Significant Increase in FY13 Revenue

Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves today said state revenue in Fiscal Year 2013 will not increase significantly, reflecting the financial difficulties Mississippi's economy may experience in the next several fiscal years."Economic recovery hasn't hit Main Street, and Mississippi families and businesses continue to struggle," Lt. Gov. Reeves said. "The economic outlook for the state reflects these challenges, and state agencies will have to continue to learn to be more efficient with less money."

The Past Two Months…

When I was first deciding where to intern, my immediate choice was the JFP. My sister's boyfriend, Jonathan O'Keefe, was an intern here a couple of years ago, and my roommate, Holly Harlan, began as an intern last year and ended up having a job as a graphic designer. It only seemed right that I follow in their footsteps, and I'm very glad I did. The first day I began working was May 11th. I quickly noticed that everyone was extremely nice and helpful.
