I find it ludicrous for you to suggest anything beyond what I typed, whether you understand it or not. I made a simple refutation to justjess assertion. You went off intimating that I was somehow promoting or defending the institutions of slavery and racism. Therefore, "My response is that some of you have your heads so far down in the deep end of *promulgating* the existence/effects of racism that you will say anything regardless of how it makes you look."

darryl says...

Ms. Ladd,

I merely described that not all slavery was racial in origin. There was no need to insinuate otherwise. Your divebombing off the deep end to put words in my mouth was unnecessary.

justjess,

What about the practice of slavery that existed in Scandinavia from the marauding hordes of Viking norsemen? Whites enslaving whites. Or, more recently, in Africa prior to the westward expansion of slavery to North America. Blacks enslaving blacks. I would submit that slavery existed long before the concepts of racial inferiority/superiority sprung up.

Conversely, there are quite clearly racists amongst us (white, black and other) who do not enslave their fellow humans.

A. Sounds like sloppy work by JPD at the outset.
B. Were either of the participants using firearms they bought and, therefore, registered? If so, then good. If not then shame on JPD again.
C. If Mr. Brown did, indeed, take the first shot and got killed as a result, then he is not an "open carry" casualty. He is a casualty because he exercised poor judgment and got killed for it by someone with better aim. I promise you that if you clear leather on me and miss...woe unto you because it's gonna come back and I will keep firing until you breathe no more. Justifiable self-defense.

Well, at least $1.25 million came from the Feds specifically for this project, so we can dispense with your insight in this regard, Knowledge (sic). And, the purpose of this project is not for the betterment of Jackson, much to all of your collective chagrin, but for the economic development of Hinds County. How did this money come to Hinds? Where is your Uncle Bennie from? Sure as hell not Jackson. No, he's from Hinds County, that great collective of hard-working people outside your blinders. Tank this project, and it's gonna be a Bennie versus Graham/Stokes/Hunter showdown. Should be moot when Hunter loses the election next month and Stokes loses his majority. Regardless, the betterment of the county is their charge and Stokes has been an abject failure along with Graham's utter lack of credibility/leadership in their duly sworn responsibilities.

*Jacktown, Jackteezy, Jafrica—Jackson's urban street names.* Or, my personal favorite, "Jackustan."

*"Ridgeway"—..."Remember Ridgeway" will inevitably become as important a historical phrase as "Remember the Alamo."* Hmm, doubt this one. One measly street in an drug/crime-riddled neighborhood does not equate to a battle between a territory and Mexico.

*NoFo and SoFo—The inevitable SoHo copycat nicknames for local
neighborhoods.* My friends who live in Fondren/Belhaven openly scoffed at this. Silk purse and sow's ear and what-not.

Here we go again. You're making the assumption that our words and arguments are not the products of critical thinking and research. You could have saved all of that banging about on your computer by just saying, "You know what fellas, we disagree." But, alas, that is not what happened. By disagreeing with you we are simply deluded and misguided. Whatever.

Oh, and please do not misunderstand this, (I hope I can speak for you Mr. Jackson) we are not offeneded by anything (that was for you justjess) that you guys say or think of us.

As for your personal tangent, by all means, keep making the wheel rounder. Just don't get upset it we actually make it roll.

Ah, so based on our collective musings you leap to a generalized conclusion and assume that we are "cut from a similar cloth." Hmm... Where have we heard that so recently? Were you perhaps implying a certain shade and cut of cloth? Now, that would be both racist and bigoted.
