My understanding is that this is an event to pay off campaign debts. It's free to the public, but donors are giving money. If that is the case, it's one way to raise money after the fact (perhaps meaning that your donor base wasn't as apparent before the election).

The list of donors sure better be public. The public has the right to know before and after the election.

Well, inmates have been known to order hits from inside prison with illegal cell phones.

What is actually anti-First Amendment is the attempt by some to get the government to "establish" their religious beliefs as the law of the land. That is a clear violation and patently absurd -- not to mention, used as an excuse to discriminate. Folks have tried to use the First Amendment for years as a way to get the government to embrace their religious beliefs as law, and it's downright un-American.

I don't agree that it was an error that needed to be corrected. It's a commonly used title that an opinion writer using as a headline addressing the AG.

Otherwise, no big deal.

No, it's ad hominem. But so is posting that the entire JPS system is terrible. It's filled with people--and many superb ones. Let's leave both off, and we'll all be fine.

Ad hominems aside, robbier's statement is also unfactual and a logical fallacy. There are good schools in JPS. And he is comparing "a charter school" to "the JPS schools," not a charter school to one of the JPS schools, or all charter schools as a whole to all JPS schools.

In other words, it's a useless and clearly meant-to-be offensive statement. Take it elsewhere, Robbier. You're on the wrong site for such garbage.

I'm not bothered at all. I just answered you. Methinks we define "snark" quite differently.

In fact, I'm much more concerned about the topic of Ronni's column: Hood's support of Hayne. That actually has the potential to affect people's lives. It's his decisions that matter in this thread. Let's not derail it with trivia.

I don't have a particular source other than long-time common usage. It's common to hear AGs called by General in courtrooms and by other officialdom. Heard it for years. And if Ronni wants to call him that in her column, that's her choice.

General is the title for an AG.

OK, folks. Enough. If you want to add something new to move the conversation forward, that's fine. But personal attacks and repeating the same thing over and over again are against the users' agreement. Let's play like grown-ups here.
