The whole idea behind sending back Medicaid dollars is strictly political. Srahmina and brjohn9 gave a wonderful account of the minds of these Mississippians who make decisions about our State. The question was asked about ignorance or dummnest. Both descriptions apply; however, the citizens of this state must also consider the fact that these folks are voted in. How stupid could one be to vote against your own interest?

If race is that important, I guess it is understandable that our leaders are willing to sink with the ship rather than save it. Where are the members of the Black Caucus? Where are the Democrats? Where are the progressive thinkers? I am so sick and tired of this thundering silence from elected officials who are paid to speak up and out!

It is interesting that our country is made up of some people who are so fickle that one 90min. debate would change the course of who a person really is and totally erase all positives. For the past few months, President Obama has been painted as an angry black man. Why? This President's whole Administration has been maulled by: "He is not one of us"; "He is Muslim"; "He was not born in America"; "He is arrogant"; "He has not reached accross the isle"; "He is a Socialist"; "He is a Communist"; and, the negatives go on and on. What is not said is, "He is Black and I hate him." Many continue to say, "We are going to take OUR country back."

There are a few things that I know for sure: I know a LIE when I HEAR one and I know a LIAR when I SEE one; At this point, Ronmey is 2 for 2.

I'm glad to see the political language of teen pregnancy corrected for the State of MS. It is true that we have more live births by our teen population; however, the truth of the matter is, there are other States whose pregnancy rates are higher. The unspoken message here is: being Pregnant does not automatically translate into motherhood.

It is so sad that we must spend so much time jutifying the need for support of these kind of interventions. Shouldn't our law makers know that a kid having a kid without the mental or financial resources to sustain, will end up on programs that severly impact City and State budgets?

Considering the large number of high school students admitting to being sexually active, the idea of a school promoting "abstinence only" is one that is out of touch with reality.

I am always saddened at certain sports activities,i.e., basketball games: I watch very young girls with a baby on her hip and almost always, there is the thundering absence of a male. Quitely I ask myself, "Is this what they wanted to see happen?" I think not; however, what can we do to create the disconnect between having sex and having babies? I think that Ms. Penick through the Women's Fund and Mrs. Jamie Holcomb, MS's President, we're on the right track.

I salute Myrlie Evers-Williams and Gov. Winter Winters. I am a native of Vicksburg and a former music student of Mrs. Myrlie Polk, (deceased) Myrlie's aunt who raised her. Little did I know that this young beautiful girl would become the wife of MS's Hero, Medgar Evers and that at age 29, she and her three children would face the most devastating event in life: The death of a father and spouse.

Medgar's directive to Myrlie should be a lesson to all: "Don't drop to the level of those who hate; lift yourself up; be creative, be strong and move forward."

She has!

It is hard to believe that citizens here in the poorest state in America would dare vote for Mitt Romney. He has made it crystal clear that he is not concerned about the "47%" and he has acused President Obama of trying to take money from the rich to give to the poor. Has he ever thought about the fact that it took people from the "47%" to line their pockets?

It is mind boggling to know that Medicare recipients, the physically and mentally challenged, poor children, the new poor (had a job but, company closed, ect.), and others are talked about with such disdain. The Republicans have instituted a new discriminatory system and it is not based on race, color or creed: it is based on income. It is my sincere hope that Mississippians are listening and that we can come together as a unified state to get these selfish, void of compassion, crazy talking folks out of office and for sure, we MUST make sure that Mr. Paul and Mr. Mitt are not voted in as Pres. & Vice.

Good News! Just watch this play out. The rush for voter ID is all about "Taking our country back" and the translation is: Get Obama and his family out of OUR White House. This will become a non-issue once THIS Nov. election is over.

I saw the Maddow report. I am also in agreement with the fact that voter ID is a solution looking for a problem. So much time an energy have been spent by our lawmakers on issues that will deliver absolutely nothing to bring MS from the bottom of everything that is good and the top of all that is bad. We can do better. There are many progressive thinkers who will not sit idly by a watch MS continue to focus on issues that will fast tract a down-hill spiral.

So what is the County's next move? Will we continue to sit and watch these incompetent administrators make decisons to keep the status quo at the expense of our children who are in desperate need of mental and physical management? It is my understanding that many of the youth are just being warehoused with psychiatric diagnosis requiring medication and psychotherapy.

What a wonderful idea and a great tribute to this deserving young lady. My hat goes off to Gabby!

I've used that bank for 30+ years. The folks there are kind, supportive and helpful. I hope that everyone is safe and that the robber(s) is/are apprehended!

Just another waste of time as many of you have already stated. Stokes is a lawyer and knows well that he does not have a legal leg to stand on. If he thinks that this is inappropriate dress, as many of us do, then why not start at home with his wife who covers her head with a BIG hat while trying to address the City's business. Is this unattractive and inappropriate? Yes, but, is it illegal, NO.

Stokes is trying to travel, at tax payers expense, all over the world to find out about prisons and he is also on the front line pushing for a new prison. If he is really interested in young people, why not travel the world to find out about the Educational Systems of the world and how we can improve and build NEW schools.
