@Zachary Orsborn

"........But now I understand that my father wasn't chosing alcohol over me."

This is the cathartic point in the treatment process when one can not only say, but, believe that "My ______has an illness and I did not cause it."

Zachary will continue to get relief by telling his story and sufferers, wheather victim or perpetrator - will benefit.

Thanks!

Sorry for the mispelling of Smith Robertson Museum and especially with former Mayor Johnson saying on yesterday:
"I am so grateful that the citizens of Jackson have allowed me to help write our City's story ....which includes the transformation of Smith Robertson Museum and Cultural Center. "

I sincerely hope that the citizens of Jackson will not fall for the sterotype of Johnson being a slow and stagnant person as one of the bloggers on this site suggested. This is the same kind of rhetoric we hear about President Obama. Saying things like this encourage others not the read or research the facts.

The JFP carried former Mayor Johnson entire State of the City Address as he left office in 2013. My challenge to voters is to find that link, read it word for word, fact check his accomplishments and then see if "stagnation" is an appropriate word for one who did so much with so little and during a short period of time. We much also remember that there was a four year period of interruptus wherein our city was turned up-side-down. Johnson came back as a healer and was able to put Jackson back on track. He has made the job of Mayor look easy when in actuality it is not. So, before we become a Detroit or some of the other cities that have fallen, we must go with what we know and that is experience< experience< experience!

I attended the press conference at Smith Robinson Museum on yesterday for former Mayor Harvey Johnson's announcement of his candidacy for Mayor.

Goldeneagle, the question was raised by a news reporter about the rumor that he lives in Madison. This is rumor that could have ended by checking the tax rolls. Johnson has lived on HalMark in the Woodlea Community for more than 20 years. Before that, he lived on Meadowlane where he and Kathy raised their two children and who are both graduates of Calloway High School-Not Madison High.

Johnson told the crowd that he owns a farm in hinds county. "i have 5 horses, a pond and a barn." He further stated that people see him in Lowes and putting lumber on his truck. "I guess people thought that I was building a mansion." The crowd laughed!

On the issue of voters electing him again after two losses, Johnson reminded the group that he has had three (3)WINS!

@ Fumumi F. Franklin

"Having said that, I dare anyoneto tell met it is without taste to openly flirt with, grind on, kiss or even talk about sex publicly".

I will go on record saying, "I take your dare". Holding hands, a hug, a gentle kiss - ok; however, "grinding on" and publicly talking about sex could be a public problem.

Just keep in mind that Beyonce and Jay-Z are entertainers. We don't know wha the sexual habits of this couple are. They have made big bucks in the past for her singing, acting and dance moves - Jay-Z for his Rap. The world is not going to give them a pass on the appearance of public mating - not even the language. Isn't this one of our human behaviors that seperate us from lower animals?

Beyonce is too beautiful, too talented and too smart for this type of a public melt-down. Like the young kid, Myra Syris (sp) the real pathology is yet to reveal itself. We have so much work to do with our children and telling them to "leave the room" or "change the channel" is not the answer.

My sincere condolences to Orley's family. I worked with his wife, Mary Ann, during the 80s. She was a very supportive colleague. I also enjoyed the humorous columns written by Orley. In many of his selections, he would use "MA" which are Mary Ann's initials.

Orley's leaving the CL was like a death back then and I must add that the paper never recovered.

This Admnistration sold Jackson down a river. This is a bad deal! Would we really fall for the excuse of a crumbling infastructure as a reason to take the control of how, when and where the tax dollars will be spent?

The collection process seems like a big enough mess. We can and should do better!

@Tomhead1978
You are right on point. Far too many legislators remain P'Oed about the Ayers case and until they are unseated and replaced with forward and positive thinkers, we will be at a stand still as it relates to progress.

@Bubbat
Why do you throw out all of this crazy stuff? You know that the stadiums at Ole MS, MS State or USM were not built from alumni money alone. These stadiums were financed through the legislature. So, please stop asking JSU to do what others have not done. Get over it!
