maybe Kenny Stokes could focus on conditions at the jail instead of worrying about writing tickets for saggy pants kids. Nah that sounds like real work would want to ask him to do that now would we.

More proof that election fraud doesn't happen with voters at the polls it happens in the counting of those votes. The Stokes and their people have had free reign, protect and control for way too long it is time for them to go.

Donna I know your story will make a difference for someone. It is important that we tell our stories so that we know we are not alone. I made a blog post about the experience my family is going through right now on the Jackblog its called Through the Looking Glass. I hope our experience helps someone too.

Scappy I find it racist to try to put an additional burden of guilt on women of color for accessing abortion by saying they are participating in genocide. No one is heaping that guilt at the feet of white women. I will not go round and round about how abortion numbers in MS are indeed higher for African American women, so what? What drives that is a lack of health care access and poverty not because the Jackson Women's Health Org. is on a campaign to kill black embryos.
This abortion is black genocide argument is a ploy by the anti-choice side to get blacks to join their cause. Historically black churches have not taken a public stand on choice and many have supported a right to choose so it was white people in the movement who came up with this garbage. I would be more inclined to believe that people like Roy McMillian sitting with his black genocide poster was worrying about black women and babies if he supported programs that actually help them once their born or didn't harass black women in scenes reminiscent of angry white protesters outside of schools being integrated. (I am speaking specifically of him following black women to their cars while shouting in their ears).
I am done with this race based argument about abortion. You don't like abortion don't have one. If your so concerned about black fetuses worry about why MS has infant mortality rates in some parts of this state for black infants that are equal to parts of the third world.

Did they really think they could get away with this? Oh and they just change the birth certificate requirement I mean come on. This was always going to be a problem for people born out of state though since many states require a photo an ID to obtain a birth certificate. Sigh!

Donna already mapped out health care assess disparities so I won't go there and I believe she cleared up Sanger let's work with some facts about where abortion clinics are located. Let me say as a woman of color I am offended and tired of predominantly white organizations who do nothing for little black children once they are here claiming there is a conspiracy against black babies by women's health care providers. The same providers oft times who are the ONLY ones providing poor women of color reproductive health care. According to the Guttmacher Institute as of 2008 - 63 percent of abortion providers are located in predominantly non-Hispanic white neighborhoods.12 percent are located in predominantly Hispanic neighborhoods. 9 percent of abortion providers are located in predominantly black neighborhoods. 1 percent of abortion providers are located in other predominantly non-white neighborhoods. 15 percent of abortion providers were located in neighborhoods where no racial group constituted a majority of the population.
So let us be done with this double demonizing of poor black women were if they have an abortion they are participating in genocide and if they have the babies they helping destroy the country by raising future criminals or drains on society. Either way some how its our fault for something.
Might I also mention that this black genocide argument didn't become really big among white anti choice groups until they felt it would help them gain political ground with black churches when they were losing ground in the public eye after all the doctor assassination and clinic bombings. Nice try black people aren't stupid. We trust women!

Please ask the candidates what their plans are for upgrading and fixing our cities water and sewage infrastructure. We consistently have boil water alerts, broken water mains, and standing water in the streets. This is clearly a serious problem that needs to be addressed.

Not to mention removing children when its not really needed and then putting up unneeded barriers to family reunification. Thus putting them in a worse situation then what was first alleged by bouncing them from foster home to foster home or group home to group home that may itself be neglectful or abusive. The state should be ashamed that we treat at risk children so badly. Not to mention we are one of only two states that doesn't provide parents an attorney if they can't afford one, parents are lucky if they are told they have the right to have an attorney since technically in family court there are no criminal charges against them (but there could be).
