@RRArch I don't follow what you're saying... I'm getting different numbers, unless I'm missing something.
The taxable income above $241k would be taxed at 36%; so, rounding, that ~$60k would require another ~$1800 or so in taxes over what you'd currently pay.
The numbers I get are $75,860 under current law and $77,630 under new rates.
Anyone who reads the above (regarding the NDAA) and wonders where it comes from might also want to read this at Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military…
Incidentally, just to do some tidying up -- Obama won, obviously, and he won not only when Ohio was called in his favor (by the networks), but, while Ohio was in "dispute" at Fox News and the Romney camp waited to concede, at about 10:57 central time Nevada, Colorado and Iowa had also been called, rendering Ohio unnecessary for Obama; that's probably when Romney started getting serious about his concession speech.
Donnelly did beat Murdouck, and throughout the country the Tea Party has a "Meh" sort of night; however, gerrymandering in Ohio did lose Betty Sutton her seat; in fact, it was redrawn districts that were given the credit to the GOP keeping the House in such robust fashion. I guess some folks are just gonna have to move to make the House change anytime soon.
Maine did vote for Marriage Equality -- in fact, in Maine and Maryland as ballot initiatives legalizing it, Washington's law was upheald, and an initiative to define it away in Minnesota was defeated.
As of Friday night, the Washington governor's race hadn't been decided, with the Democrat, Jay Inslee, in the lead and ballots still to be counted. The state of Washington has managed to count enough ballot to determine that it, along with Colorado, has for the first time legalized recreational marijuana at the state level.
Oh, and I mentioned that Florida would be a mess? It was. And here's hoping there's some election reform coming to fix those long lines, bizarre early-voting snafus and general ass-hattery by the GOP Secretary of State's office over there. As of Friday evening, cnn, cbs, nbc, Fox, ABC, AP, and NPR hadn't called Florida for Obama.
Huffington Post has, however, which is all that matters.
[Daily Beast][1] has a warning for election watchers, particular Obama supporters -- because there's a lot of early voting this year, some states will have those early voting results to report right when the polls close; but they may be skewed. The convention wisdom is that Obama has a strong GOTV operation, so early results for Obama in states like Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Ohio could slowly be overtaken as today's votes are counted.
Interesting piece here -- Steve Schmidt (former McCain campaign manager) admitting that the GOP is making up the "issue" of voter fraud, particularly in-person voter impersonation.
Did I miss Governor Bryant's forceful condemnation of voter *registration* fraud by state GOP offices? Just curious... now back to your regularly scheduled rant against non-existing voter fraud problems.
(My particular favorite is "I'll be showing my ID, whether they want it or not..." -- are you somehow concerned that *you* might accidentally commit voter fraud? :)

10/22 wouldn't qualify for the assault weapons ban, either, by the 80s-90s definition. I suppose there are some modifications for it that might?

Since no one has called for a ban, I would hazard to say the 10/22 is safe.

Just the headline on this Slate story put the argument in *stark* relief, and shows the demographic problem the GOP has on the national level.
