Not sure what's worse - having the BOS create a position out of thin air, nominate/vet (inaccurately, as it turned out)/affirm someone within 10-minute session or, when the big bully Mr. Stokes is out of the building, turn around and rescind the nomination and job position. I mean, damn.
1. Robert Graham - repeated mischaracterization of his actual job title (by impersonating a JPD officer), dodgy finances concerning his 'expertise' as an emergency communications professional and shady dealings with Airwave and Northstar that have led Hinds into a financial downward spiral... 2. Doug Anderson - medically and physically incapable to perform the duties to which he was elected to...not that his Ward cares, which brings us to - 3. Kenneth Stokes - a law school graduate who can't practice law; a buffoon of the highest order who, through the ignorance of his Ward actually got a *promotion* from the City Council to the BOS. Every single thing he has done in these positions has been disastrous and reckless.
Well, nothing should surprise anyone anymore regarding the behind-the-doors shenanigans this board proposes. At one point in an interview, Mr. Stokes states that Mr. Alexander was "one of the greatest minds in law." This would be laughable on its face, as Mr. Alexander repeatedly demonstrated malfeasance as a practicing attorney (thus leading to his disbarment), but to come out of the pie hole of Mr. Stokes (who has never passed the bar exam) makes it farcical at best. At worst, it represents the stagnant cronyism that Hinds County has become...

Well, for starters, the FCC and the FBI. If this group uses methods that are found to be illegal then they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of existing law. (But hopefully after they utterly destroy Westboro).
In an era of trying to attract and grow businesses, this is a great move for Michigan. Hopefully, it will serve as a prod to improve their economy and, thusly, the quality of life for citizens of that state.
I thought it was interesting that Hat Lady wanted to provide helmets for bicycle riders who did not have one or could not afford one. Where is that money going to come from? What new city agency is going to oversee this? Perhaps the same one who will champion the curfew violators...
This is a problem for people who only vote party lines. I thought a vote was for the person who most closely represented the voter's principles and ideals.

Tee hee! I'm fond of a particular saying: don't start nothing, won't be nothing. Despite its linguistic and grammatical devolvement, it's quite appropriate when the concept of race is uttered. All the time, everywhere and in most situations, there are differences. If a white council member had complained about this, asserting that it should go to a black neighborhood, OMG! The hue and cry would rain down upon that person such that all sort of rational discourse would be lost forever. We need to stop letting these *elected* persons continue to mouth off in any damned fool way they feel they can.
I stand by my original assertion - a business relocates *into* Ward 3. That should be cause for celebration. As this animal shelter houses animals from the tri-county area (and possibly beyond), this is the type of centralization of services that I would imagine Jackson would be proud of. Sort of a return of a prodigal son, if you would.

Unfortunate under the circumstances but long overdue. Now, if only Graham and Stokes would resign, Hinds County might have a decent Christmas!
