Start A Revolution
Jeremy Polk and Paula Pellegrin wheeled Nelson Gibson's rusty, circa 1967 Schwinn twin bicycle from their large truck and began working on it. Spending about 12 hours over the course of a week, the two transformed the old cruiser that Gibson remembered his parents riding when he was a kid.

The Swami Speaks
It's that time of year again ... college football season. As always, Dr. S is here to tell you who's going to do what and why. But just remember, these picks are for entertainment porpoises only. If you're going to be hanging around town, why not check out Mississippi Valley State vs. Southern U. at Memorial Stadium (7 p.m., Saturday). Valley figures to be better in year 2 under Coach Willie Totten. And Southern is always worth watching, especially when the band performs at halftime. Funny how Valley refuses to move its home games with Jackson State down here and then schedules a game with Southern here. Dr. S expects a big crowd, and a good portion of them with be dressed in Jaguar blue and gold. Valley 28, Southern 27.
Eric Stringfellow
Eric Stringfellow has his work cut out for him. As a Jackson Public Schools public-affairs consultant, the district has given him the task of selling an unpopular rezoning plan that will close one school and require students at several other schools to transition to different locations next year.
Straight to the Source: Apples & Pumpkins Ripe for the Pickin'
Corn mazes, hay rides, fresh pressed cider and pumpkins galore! It's that time of the year y'all; fall, is here. What better way to quench your thirst for all things apple, than going straight to the source? There's no place like an orchard or pumpkin patch to get you in the mood for autumn, and there's nothing that compares to the fruit you'll find there. Don't even think about grabbing a bunch from the supermarket for your next pie, cobbler or crisp; their dull and mealy flesh have nothing on the firm and sweet varieties you can find on the farm. There you'll come across heirlooms and others you may never get the chance to sample elsewhere: Honeycrisp, Jonagold, Cortland, Idareds and many, many more. Now that's what I call Slow Food.
New Orleans Saints to Play in Jackson in August
[verbatim] For the second time in as many years, the New Orleans Saints are bringing NFL football to Mississippi, playing the Indianapolis Colts at Jackson's Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. With the state being a substantial part of the club's fan base, the Saints return to Jackson after holding the club's annual Black & Gold Scrimmage at the stadium in 2005. Part of what made this game possible was the involvement of BankPlus as an official sponsor of the event.
