"Bubba...LOL. I love it. You are right...gun manufactures don't call assault weapons "assult weapons".

This on going argument re assault weapons - not being "assault weapons" can be explained by using a few line from the Shakespearian play - Romeo and Juliet__

Juliet gives a strong argument explaining to Romeo that the names of things do not matter; what matters is what the things are (do).

Simply put: "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" or to use the frequently misquoted version - "A Rose by any other name is still a Rose".

An assault weapon by any other name is still an assault weapon and can still be used to KILL: swift, fast and in a hurry! This is not fear mongering - This is a fact!

Just saying.

"......They are nothing more than cheap extortionist and pandhandlers, who won't be getting any of my money."

I agree. I just hope that voting Mississippians are listening to this rhetoric and know that you can't take away Affordable Health-Care without giving anything back. It is so interesting that the Tea Party folks don't have a plan other than to use this scam to elect people that they can control: They could care less about shutting down the government. This group is willing to sink the whole ship to prove a hatefilled point.

"One moment in time should never define someone. Many prefer Dr. King, the dreamer. People don't want to know about the Poor people's Campaign that he was working on when he was assassinated or his anti-war views. The American public doesn't want to hear any so-called radical or militant words from a black leader they have decided is "safe" on race relations, so Dr. King's message has to be edited, refined and repackaged for easy mass consumption."

You make some great points; however, I think that we must be clear on the fact that Dr. King was not a militant or for that matter, he was not radical. Had Dr. King been "militant/radical, he would have been armed with something other than a Bible. I had the opportunity of meeting with Dr. King and attended mass meething with Lawrence Gyout and others who made sure that we remainded peaceful and non-violent during sit-ins and marches.

I agree that Dr. King lived in the NOW . He was a sensible man who knew that fair wages, decent working conditions, the end to Jim Crow laws, segregated schools - buses, lunch counters, medical waiting rooms, bathrooms, water fountains and the list goes go, would not be accomplished over night.

The "I Have A Dream" speech was, in my opinion, the prayer of a tired and wounded soldier. In other words, these things had not become actualized, but, he could visualize a post-racial era where all men, women and children are treated as equals.

"Warm and fuzzy" are not bad feelings; For me, they represent people who are thinking with their heart and allowing their minds to follow. I have met many whites who have expressed these feelings and also regret for the racist sins of others. These are the hands that we much continue to hold and the minds that will change as a result of it.

The Movement must remain non-violent!

Johnny Cash wrote the song while traveling on a train and talking to a stranger. It is called "The Gambler". I know that Kenny Rogers also has history with singing it and this might be your point of reference.

lookit: The article is written about a smart, honest and hard-working African American Female who is a part of the struggle of bringing Jackson's Downtown business community back to life. Let's celebrate that. Please - Can WE?

Debra Griffin is one of the smartest women I have ever met. She gives real meaning to Johnny Cash's song because:

She knew when to hold 'em
She knew when to fold 'em
She knew when to walk away and when to run......."

Hang in there Debra; your coffee is GREAT!!!!!!!!

"Our worst taliban-gelical state."

This word "taliban-gelical" should be added to the list of new words.

Cleaver!

The elephant in the room should have been Van Overschelde's Republican Health Care Plan. This is totally insane!. i don't think that Mississippians are stupid enough to get on her band-wagon to defeat Wicker or Cochran for upholding the law. There might be other issues of concern for both of these gentlemen; however, obeying Ms. Tea Party on her directive against The Affordable Health Care Act ain't it!
